Another in a series of photographs, taken during a week's walking in the Lake District. This walks starts in the very touristy village og Grasmere and heads over the flanks of Silver How and Sheep Crag to Chapel Sile in Langdale and makes a very pleasnt shorter walk for days when the mist is low over the high fells or just when one can't be bothered to go up higher! Photos 7 and 8 are from a separate walk across Harter Fell which gave stunning views towards the Scafell group. Photo 9 was taken from near Skelwith looking north towards Lingmoor Fell.

I have included the EXIF data for all the shots. Simply hover the mouse over the "EXIF data" links and a smaller window will pop up. To close the window, move the mouse away from the link.

Cropping, size reduction and/or very minor adjustments were done with Adobe Photoshop 6. Photos compressed generally at around 45% to optimise download time. All photos taken with Minolta Dimage 7.

Looking back towards Grasmere Chapel Stile Grasmere
After parking in the main car park on the southwestern side of Grasmere, the crowds are soon left behind. This view is looking after towards Helvellyn. Exif data (60Kb) Chapel Stile can be considered the be the main village of Langdale, I suppose.. there is nothing of any consequence beyond it. The spoil tips from the slate quarries can be seen on the slopes of Lingmoor Fell and the quarrying noise can be quite obtrusive, spoiling this lovely valley. Exif data (65Kb) The return to Grasmere is quite delightful. Here, the lake can be seen straight ahead. Off to the right is Loughrigg Fell. Exif data (71Kb)
Grasmere The Langdale Pikes Lingmoor Fell
A lovely setting for a house - overlooking Grasmere. Exif data (50Kb) A classic view of the Langdale Pikes, seen from just before the turning to Elterwater, Langdale. Exif data (50Kb) Elterwater and, in the background, Lingmoor Fell. The Fell itself is worthy of day out and provides good walking, with excellent views of the Langdale Pikes. Exif data (82Kb)
Scafell range (WHERE?) (WHERE?)
A view looking looking towards Scafell from the slopes of Harter Fell. Exif data (59Kb) Looking across Eskdale to Goat Crag and Great How. Exif data (40Kb) Near Colwith, with the dramatic slopes of Lingmoor Fell behind. Exif data (55Kb)
